I was likely sitting among my fellow fourth-grade classmates, not realizing that history was being made just 30 miles away. On that day, the first-ever bone marrow transplantation (BMT) for lymphoma was performed at the University of Minnesota Cancer Center (Endres, 2006). Granted, BMT had been performed for leukemia since the late 1950s, but even 20 years later, the science of transplantation was in its infancy and success very uncertain. 10 ONS CONNECT D [By Robin M.
