This unique event recognizes the many roles APNs play in cancer care and provides comprehensive oncology information to enhance practice and help patients and their families. The team has planned opportunities for attendees to connect with their peers to share ideas and information, in addition to earning nursing and pharmacy continuing education credits. Plus, the information to be presented is evidence based and at the advanced level. Building on the success of last year’s diagnostic sessions, the preconference J program has been expanded. Participants will choose four of the following sessions. • Oncologic imaging • Biopsy and suturing basics • Advanced neurologic assessment • Acupressure and acupuncture • Echocardiogram interpretation • Bone marrow biopsies Sessions have been planned to meet the needs of APNs from a variety of practice settings. We’re offering two tumor boards, with panels of physician and nurse experts presenting cases in hematology and thoracic oncology. Lectures will offer state-of-the-art guidelines for care of breast cancer and multiple myeloma as well as an intro- duction to genomics. Poster sessions will feature abstracts focusing on APN issues. Symptom management topics include cardiac complications, diabetes, dental care, and drug-drug interactions incorporating pharmacogenomics. Professional topics such as roles of the APN, advocacy, and forecasting will also be addressed. The final session will target survivorship issues, providing inspirational ideas for working with patients and families. Come join us in the scenic city of Seattle this November!
