Osceola ReVIEW - January 2009 - (Page 2) President’s Perspective By Sean Ferguson Happy New Year! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you as your 2009 President. I hope you are as excited as I am to help make 2009 a successful year for all of us. I am very fortunate to be working with an outstanding group of leaders and association partners. I know together we will have a great year. The market for 2009 will certainly be an interesting one. Our market changes are more dynamic and frequent then ever before. In order to succeed for 2009 you need to work hard, make smart business decisions, and align yourself with the best tools through technology and education. During our annual Strategic Leadership Retreat, the teams developed our 2009 Strategic Plan. We spent many hours learning and discussing current industry, market and professional trends at the national, regional and state levels. Although these goals are not the newest ideas sometimes the basic principles are a strong foundation at where to begin. Here are some highlights of the Plan, including our new Mission Statement: “We are an association of real estate professionals dedicated to the success of our members, while adding value to the community.” • Enhancing Member Profitability • Enhancing REALTOR® Partnerships • Provide for the Professional Development of our Members and Staff • Improve Communication Our primary focus was to reinforce the value and worth of our membership and coming up with ideals and strategies to help members achieve their financial and professional goals. Our Young Professionals Network with the help of our 2009 chair Andrey Bustamante is looking to have another fantastic year. Check out there new website at www.YPNonline.org. Look out for the 2009 schedule of events and come out and support this energetic group. 2 ReVIEW We have some great events planned for 2009, and they could not be done without the support of our Affiliates. We would like to encourage our Realtors® to recommend your favorite affiliate to get involved at the association. Make sure you keep abreast of what’s going on by checking out the calendar online at www.OsceolaRealtors.org. Sign-up to sponsor an event by calling the Association at (407) 846-0117. We recently had our first Central Florida International Alliance social event, which was a Pot-Luck Christmas Dinner. It was a great success, and we had over 30 dishes cooked by members that reflected their culture. The turnout was high and we had our own Santa, Carlos ThurdeKoos, our Christmas Elf, Maria ThurdeKoos, and was hosted by Abby Barboza, Chairperson of the CFIA Committee. Look for more wonderful and exciting events from this committee this year! If you are interested in joining any Association Committees, visit our website at www.OsceolaRealtors.org and click on the “Join a Committee” icon on the bottom left side of the home page. Mid-Florida Regional Multiple Listing Services (MFRMLS) has some exciting things going on. MFRMLS recently launched a consumer facing website. This consumer website gives people the most dynamic and easy to use listing search on the internet. Check out the sight and let us know what you think www.MyFloridaHomesMLS.com. Remember to mark your calendars for every Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. for the MLS Marketing Meetings. If you know of an interesting speaker that you think could benefit our members, please contact Gwen Dukes at the Association so that we can schedule them to come and speak at a meeting. I wish everyone the best of luck for success for 2009. As always, the association leaders and the staff are here to serve our members.
