Puffy jackets are sure to sell. According to research organizationThe NPD Group, between July
2014 and June 2015, the total dollars spent on insulators increased by 12.2 percent, while the
average price of those jackets increased by 5.1 percent. Consumers can't get enough. Here's how

KNOWYOUR CUSTOMER:
Who Are They? Here's a crowd
that's somewhat sedentary while
outdoors. Whether standing or
sitting, mobility and dexterity
aren't usually a huge concern for
them. But these puffies are also
ideal for high-activity folks who
want to chill in camp or in town.
Retaining every ounce of heat is
the highest priority here.
What Do They Need? This
customer-who may be outdoors watching a football game,
hunkering down while on the
hunt, waiting for perfect light
for a photo or belaying a fellow
ice climber-is going to want the
warmest jacket possible.

Activity
Who Are They? These customers are not idling around, but
they're not working up much
internal fire, either. Their activity
may include taking the dog out
for a walk, snowshoeing on established trails or popping out to
grab an armful of firewood.
What Do They Need? Mobility
in their layers is a little more important, but these folks are not
making any quick movements
where excess bulk could get in
the way. On the other hand, they
don't want to fight their jacket
when they do move.
