GEAR TO GO

Kevin Rosenberg lived in
a hammock in the basement
of Gear To Go Outfitters for a
month when he first opened the
shop in Brooklyn after making
a living as a street vendor. The
former U.S. Navy officer has now
expanded the store fourfold so he
can better get NewYorkers outdoors and give jobs to other vets.

Tech geek Jason Borro was so
succesful with his online retail
site, Skimo.co, that he made the
move from virtual store to brickand-mortar. The Utah shop
prides itself on technical knowhow when it comes to hard-tofind gear and it has proven that
uphill skiers are a hungry, and
still underserved market.
