Oahu Travel Planner 2008 - (Page 30) PICTURE PERFECT SINCE 1905, JUST SEVEN YEARS AFTER THOMAS EDISON applied for his first movie camera patent, O‘ahu has been a favorite filming location. No other location beats O‘ahu’s natural resources and excellent weather. Hawaii’s first Hollywood productions, Hawaiian Love and The Shark God, were filmed on O‘ahu in 1913. Perhaps best known among films is Jurassic Park, but here are a few more from a long list: Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008), You, Me and Dupree (2006), The Big Bounce (2004), 50 First Dates (2004), The Run Down (2003), Blue Crush (2002), Punch Drunk Love (2002) and the 2001 block-buster films, Pearl Harbor, and Windtalkers were filmed on O‘ahu as were Mighty Joe Young (1997), Wind (1991), Point Break (1990), Joe Versus the Volcano (1989), Blue Hawai‘i (1961), The Old Man and the Sea (1958), From Here to Eternity (1953). O‘ahu also has been a popular location for television: 12 years of Hawai‘i Five-O, eight seasons of Magnum, P.I., and long runs of shows such as Jake and the Fatman. Currently filming on O‘ahu is the hit T.V. show LOST. 30 THE ISLAND OF O‘AHU http://www.marriottwaikiki.com
