For those who like knowing exactly where the food they’re eating originated, Owensboro offers at least three different options for purchasing food that’s fresh from the farm. Trunnell’s Farm Market, the market at Reid’s Orchard and the O wensboro Regional Farmers’ Market all give Owensboro’s locavores (the technical term for those who adhere to the local food movement) plenty of opportunity to bring home the freshest fruits, vegetables and more. Trunnell’s Farm Market, about six miles south of Owensboro on Kentucky 431, recently morphed from a seasonal roadside produce stand into a permanent year round market that offers a wide selection of seasonal produce and other products such as milk, cheese and meats produced by Kentucky farmers. Trunnell’s also sells homemade breads, jams, jellies and candy. Each fall, the market has a terrific pumpkin patch and harvest related activities, such as corn mazes and hay rides. Kevin Trunnell, the proprietor, has certainly succeeded in his goal to bring the best products that Kentucky has to offer to one location. “We thought it would take some time for people to really want more than just the 2009
