DearBaltimore airport waiting to ﬂy home Southwest, I was in the when someone from your company made an announcement that a ﬂight full of veterans was about to disembark. The vets came out of the tunnel, one by one. Their families, your staff, and people waiting in the terminal gave each person a standing ovation. It's amazing to see a company show thanks the way you guys did for all the veterans. That's something I'll truly remember. I now always want to ﬂy Southwest. -Marla Calanni A GENEROUS GIFT During a ﬂight, I started talking to the cabin crew. Flight attendant Andrea "AJ" Carrell is the perfect employee for Southwest. She was wearing a bracelet decorated with wings in the shape of a heart and a rhinestone cross on top of the wings. I asked where she had purchased it because I wanted to get one for our granddaughter. She told me, and we all continued to talk. Just before we landed in Seattle, AJ handed me her bracelet, which she had wrapped up, and said, "Give it to your granddaughter." I told her 20 SOUTHWEST NOVEMBER 2014 no, but she insisted I take it. I ﬂy with Southwest almost every week. You have the best crews in the air, and AJ could teach a course on how to be the perfect ﬂight attendant. Besides the gift to our granddaughter, she was excellent at her job of taking care of the passengers. I wish there was more I could do to let Southwest know how much I appreciate the airline and its employees. I want AJ to be recognized for being the sweet, thoughtful, caring person she is. -James Barr CUP OF KINDNESS I had traveled miles to Long Island MacArthur Airport to pick up my nephew, who was arriving from St. Louis for a visit. The plane was delayed, and there was no coffee anywhere at the airport. Two women at the Southwest ticket counter took pity on me and brewed me a cup of decaf from their own coffeemaker. They were very gracious and understanding. Their names are Yvette Cruz and Sheri Miller. Please thank them for me! -Sharen Dykeman GOOD DETECTIVE WORK I want to thank Jamie Dishman, who works at the Southwest counter in Austin. I left my keys at the checkin counter and didn't notice until I got to my destination. I ﬁled a claim, but Jamie went one better. She lives in the same town as me: Cedar Park, Texas.
