Then they will take turns angling for the perfect ride on curls that sometimes reach 60 feet high. That's the premise of Mavericks Invitational Surf Competition at Pillar Point Harbor, just 20 minutes south of San Francisco, renowned since the '90s as one of the world's greatest-and deadliest-surf playgrounds, and an ideal spot for rubbernecking surf fans.
