Star of the Month Shona Erlenmeyer + FL I G H T AT T EN DA N T, B A LT I M O R E TO A TEA Shona fits right in at Southwest. Who do you want as your Flight Attendant on a Southwest Airlines flight? Do you want a "take charge" kind of person? Do you want someone levelheaded and compassionate? Would you like your Safety information delivered to you in a cool Scottish accent? If you said yes to any of these, then Shona Erlenmeyer is the Flight Attendant for you. Shona was just 6 years old when she decided she wanted to work for an airline. She joined the Southwest Family in November 2007 and has never looked back. Originally from the Victorian-styled city of Glasgow, Scotland, Shona now calls Baltimore home. Although she enjoys living on the East Coast (the old architecture in Charm City reminds her of Glasgow), Shona loves her Scottish hometown. "The people back home are the kindest salt-of-the-earth individuals you'll ever meet," she says. "Luckily, I am able to visit often!" When Shona isn't flying for work, she's flying for fun. She loves to travel and is always on the lookout for adventures. San Juan is her favorite Southwest destination for staying overnight while working, she says, because the beach is beautiful and "the hotel treats us like rock stars." When she's not on the clock, her place of choice is London, as she is drawn to the energy of the city. What's her favorite memory of London? "Meeting the queen," Shona says. Queen Elizabeth II personally presented her family the George Cross in honor of her late father, James Kennedy, who saved the lives of two people during a robbery.
