The best yo-yo players in the nation descend upon Emerald City's Seattle Center Armory for the weekend-long 10th annual Pacific Northwest Regional Yo-Yo Championships, which paves the way to October's National Championships. Competitors will throw down, breakaway, hop the fence, and barrel roll their way through a variety of taut- and slackstring tricks in two contests: The Sport Ladder, which requires a mastery of compulsory, choreographed tricks agreed upon beforehand; and The Championship Freestyle, which allows contestants to blow through whips, lacerations, and string hits of their own volition and is judged on difficulty of tricks, synchronization with music, and artistic merit.
