SUN SHRINE
Piedmont Park
provides ample
space to soak
up some rays.
Piedmont Park:
A Place We LUV
Southwest does its part for one of
Atlanta's favorite public spaces.
I serve as president and CEO of Piedmont
Park Conservancy in Atlanta, and every
time I walk through the park I'm drawn
in by the sight of children playing, friends
gathering, and people enjoying the
outdoors. On a sunny afternoon, you
might find families fishing in Lake Clara
Meer, pet lovers tossing Frisbees in the
dog park, or shoppers buying fresh, local
food from the Green Market. Throughout
the week, Piedmont comes alive with
concerts and festivals. Everyone from
music buffs to fitness fanatics can find
something here that reaches them. Best
of all, entrance to the park is free.
Having a fun place to gather enriches
our community in more ways than
you'd think. It enhances property values,
attracts businesses, and makes Atlanta
a better place to live and work. With
more than 200 acres to maintain, we rely
on the generosity of our volunteers and
sponsors-like Southwest Airlines-to
provide a clean, safe, and enjoyable park
experience. Southwest is more than just a
supporter, though; it truly believes in our
mission of making Piedmont a place we
LUV. The Southwest Porch and Rink add
yet another wonderful place for our community to gather, and thanks to generous
donations and volunteer efforts, we have
mowed 1,500 acres, spread 4,000 yards of
mulch, and planted thousands of flowers.
From Employee Volunteers who donate
time from the heart to the Company's
contributions as a Chairman's Circle
Sponsor, Southwest is committed to helping us preserve and enhance Piedmont.
Piedmont is more than just a park-it's
the heart and soul of Atlanta. For the past
25 years, the Piedmont Park Conservancy
has made it our mission to enhance and
preserve this great space. We're thrilled
to celebrate this milestone, and we thank
Southwest for LUVing Piedmont Park
just as much as we do. To learn more,
