Albuquerque
T
hings are heating up in this desert locale, and we're not just referring to
the temperature. This multicultural city, home to more than 70 ethnicities, is causing quite the stir with its James Beard-nominated eateries, booming TV and film industry, historic hangouts, and renowned resorts.
Though recognized as the top city in the world for hot-air ballooning-a mustdo for any first-time visitors-this charming getaway provides plenty to do for

We know just the thing to bring a
twinkle to your eye: Make your way
to Gruet Winery where some 15 varieties of sparkling wine have earned
this family-run company the attention
of oenophiles around the country.
The winery is run by a brother and
sister duo hailing from the Champagne
region of France, and you might think

you'll see why a little extra planning is
well worth it.
At Los Poblanos Historic Inn &
Organic Farm, a cozy B&B set among
lavender fields, guests can't wait to
score a table at La Merienda. Though
the menu changes seasonally, you can
typically count on a dish infused with
honey from the on-site honey bees.
