American Dance & Music Since 2006, American Dance & Music (AD&M) has enriched the local community with distinctive performances as well as educational programming for children. AD&M Performance Group presents a diverse repertoire by noted choreographers featuring outstanding local and guest dancers. The group also stages community outreach events such as Dance: Up Close and Cultural, a free performance that makes dance accessible and available to a wide audience (June 8). Each production is created from the ground up with professional sets, costumes, and a full orchestra. Opera singers from around the globe come to Santa Barbara to rehearse and perform in the 1,470-seat Granada Theatre. Opera Santa Barbara also engages with the community through innovative outreach programs. For example, "The Opera Lab" uses improvisational theater to allow local schoolchildren to create their own opera and have it performed on the spot by professional singers and a pianist. Other events include a series of free noontime concerts, performances in local restaurants and nightclubs, and several annual gala dinners.
