The Museum is also home to one of only five complete blue whale skeletons in the United States. This 74-foot long specimen, affectionately named Chad, is more than just an iconic Santa Barbara landmark. It also represents a rare opportunity for people to gain first-hand exposure to the world's largest animal. The Museum's Gladwin Planetarium is the only one on the Central Coast that features live multimedia shows. You can explore the surface of the moon and even help guide your own tour of the constellations of the night sky. Unlike most museums, this one offers both an indoor and outdoor experience.
