During a walking tour of Bauhaus architecture — a style known for its clean, curvilinear forms — Ozer insists on taking a detour to designer Keren Wolf’s eponymous shop. The space shimmers with nouveau-vintage style accessories — gold-leaf cuffs adorned with Swarovski crystals; feminine, lacelined chemises; and delicate, bow-shaped hair clips sprinkled with pearls. Israel is making a splash in the fashion world, and Tel Aviv is leading the way, with stylish boutiques in Neve Tzedek, the city’s oldest neighborhood, and shops lining trendy Sheinkin Street. The country has its own Project Runway Israel series, and designers such as Kedem Sasson, Yosef Peretz, and Gottex are sold in upscale shops internationally. Tel Aviv isn’t referred to as “the city that never T sleeps” only for its nightlife: There’s just as much activity when the sun is up. With about 300 days of sunshine and eight miles of Mediterranean beach, he fun-loving city is earning a reputation.
