the city, leaving big-box stores scrambling to keep
window-unit air conditioners on the shelves. The
city’s Northwest-bred residents were lethargic and
cranky. I felt right at home.
I had discovered the diving boards at Green
Lake Park earlier that summer, and that’s where I
spent most of my time during the city’s heat wave.
Nothing better captures the fleeting, energetic,
carefree spirit of Seattle summer.
Seattle is as diverse a city as any in the country.
