Research Magnet Enrollment is up at Delaware State University, thanks to innovative science programs. Known for its strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, Delaware State University (DSU), a historically black university, has become a major player in the national research arena. Increasingly, students are choosing DSU as the education destination that will mold them into the next generation of scientists. With the support of federal grants, DSU has established cutting-edge research centers for neuroscience, optics, mathematics, and chemistry. The new centers give students critical hands-on experience. For example, optics faculty members and graduate students are now assisting NASA with data analysis from its Mars mission. In addition, the state of Delaware has allocated $10 million to help build an optics research building on campus. Other ongoing research projects represent a diversity of ﬁelds.
