The gallery hosts frequent events, including an Art Walk on Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m., when many of the shops in Gallery Row stay open after hours. Visitors can enjoy a glass of wine and meet the artist, who’s happy to sign her pieces. Madaras, whose father and brother are veterinarians, is also deeply committed to helping animals. She established the nonproﬁt Art for Animals foundation, which has so far raised more than $200,000 for animal-welfare groups. Since 1999, Madaras Gallery has helped the community while sharing one artist’s enthusiastic vision of Tucson. Anyone who is touched by the Southwest should stop in, and perhaps bring a piece of the desert home. Out-of-town guests and Tucsonans alike ﬂock to the gallery to enjoy Diana Madaras’ joyful interpretations of the Arizona desert. Her paintings are explosions of color: Pinks, purples, and reds burst from rocky landscapes; orange and yellow ﬂowers cascade from vases; terra-cotta pots accent the courtyards of adobe homes.
