embark CEO Letter Thank you for Flying With uS A Growing, Stronger Airline Whether you’re traveling with us today across the country or across the pond, you’ll be happy to know that we are expanding our international network and providing you with more travel choices. Beginning March 30, US Airways customers will have daily nonstop service from our largest hub in Charlotte, North Carolina, to London’s Heathrow Airport — complementing our existing daily nonstop service between London’s most important business and tourism gateway and our Philadelphia hub. If destinations in Europe are on your list this year, you can add Shannon to your travel lineup when we return seasonal summer service to the “Gateway to the West of Ireland” from Philadelphia on May 22. Our international growth isn’t limited to Europe; it also extends to South America’s most important business market, São Paulo, Brazil. We’re launching new, daily nonstop service from ★ On May 5, uS airways begins new service from Charlotte, North Carolina, to São Paulo, Brazil. Charlotte on May 5. US Airways has served Rio de Janeiro since 2009, and with the addition of our new flight, Charlotte, the United States’ second largest financial center, now boasts two flights to the world’s sixth largest economy. These new flights illustrate the connection between increased competition from a healthy airline industry and the direct economic benefits that result in our communities. Airlines are a major enabler of economic growth for emerging and established economies. They also help to ensure the future global competitiveness of the U.S. Because of the essential economic role of modern airlines, our industry trade organization, Airlines for America (A4A), is promoting an initiative called the National Airline Policy. US Airways is a proud member of A4A and fully supports the effort to establish this policy. We believe that a National Airline Policy will encourage travel, stabilize volatile energy prices, modernize our air traffic control system, reform regulatory burdens, and allow U.S. airlines to better compete with foreign carriers. Strong, cohesive policies would help keep ticket prices affordable, reduce congestion and air traffic control delays and cancellations, and enable our industry and airline to increase air service domestically and internationally. The communities where our customers live and work would also benefit from a policy that supports local trade, grows economies, and adds new jobs. I encourage you to learn more about this important initiative by visiting nationalairlinepolicy.com. Signing the online petition will show your support for a policy that backs the integral role the domestic airline industry plays in our economy. On behalf of the 32,000 employees of US Airways, thank you for flying with us today. We look forward to seeing you on another flight with us soon. photo by imagebroker/alamy São Paulo skyline Doug Parker Chairman and CEO 6 FEBRuaRy 2013 usairwaysmag.com http://www.nationalairlinepolicy.com http://www.usairwaysmag.com
