That's when this new grilled cheese restaurant, which uses awardwinning cheese from its own Valley Shepherd Farm in New Jersey, serves a delicious version of the English classic toad in the hole. It's made here with prosciutto, its own cave-aged Somerset cheese, a roasted tomato, and a farm-fresh egg from the Amish market - all on brioche grilled in bacon fat. But instead of the typical circular hole in the sandwich to cup the egg while cooking, Meltkraft punches out a cow shape - and toasts that cutout for a beguiling garnish. On any other day of the week, consider the crispy lamb hash topped with a fried egg at Border Springs Farm, which claims to be the only shop in America devoted exclusively to lamb. [10 pts.] Sandwiches Reading Terminal offers plenty of great sandwich options but none more locally revered than DiNic's, which at lunchtime can barely keep up with the orders for its roasted and braised meat sandwiches on hoagie rolls. The roasted pork with broccoli rabe and sharp provolone cheese is rightfully praised, but owner Tommy DiNic prefers the pulled-pork sandwich. "It's richer, even unctuous," he says.
