➺ Winter Warriors medals; he repeated his golden performance in the 1,000-meter race in Vancouver in 2010. He also has two silver medals in the 1,500 from 2006 and 2010, which fuel his appetite for the Sochi games. "I'm going there to do my best in those races again and come away with any type of hardware, any type of medal that I possibly can," says Davis. "I would love to win the gold again in the 1,000, or even win the 1,500, but you just have to be thankful for whatever you can get at the Olympics." Davis competes around the world every year, but he recognizes that the Olympics represent something special. "My Olympic ideal is about high performance and integrity," he says. "It's you and your country versus another person representing his country. You put your best up against his best. And you maintain your integrity and good sportsmanship, win or lose." Julia Mancuso A Career Going Downhill Teammate Lindsey Vonn might get the lion's share of television time, but U.S. alpine ski racer Julia Mancuso takes a back seat to no one. And she has the Olympic hardware - a gold and two silver medals - to prove it. This winter, 29-year-old Mancuso is ★ eyeing her fourth Olympic Games, continuing the rich legacy of American women racers that began with Gretchen Fraser and Andrea Mead Lawrence. Mancuso's 2006 golden run in the giant slalom at Torino was the first American victory in that discipline since 1984. For many Olympic enthusiasts, alpine skiing is the marquee event of the games. "For adrenaline and lots of action, I think ski racing is pretty cool and always one of the most exciting sports to watch," Mancuso says. Mancuso plans to compete in four disciplines - the downhill, giant slalom, super G, and combined - but admits an affinity for the super G. "It's really fast, and you don't get a chance to run it beforehand," she says. "One of my strengths is making decisions at the right moment, so I like it." this valentine's day show your love for her today... tomorrow... forever...
