US Airways - January 2014 - (Page 6)

CEO Letter embark Thank You for Flying with US The New American Is Arriving ★ Along with the New Year, the new American Airlines is arriving. With the close of the merger between American and US Airways, we're working together to bring our customers a stronger airline that offers greater schedule options, access to more destinations around the globe, and a modern fleet. With more than 6,700 daily flights to 336 destinations in 56 countries, the new American will offer consumers access to more choices and increased service across a larger worldwide network and through an enhanced oneworld® alliance. Turn to page 126 to see where the new American can take you. As we start our journey to build the new American, US Airways and American will continue to function as two separate airlines for about 18 to 24 months. Very few changes will happen immediately. There is no impact to any existing travel plans you may have with either carrier, and the miles you have earned in either frequent flyer program are safe. One significant change that does begin this month however, is providing you access to a much larger network through a codeshare between American and US Airways, which will offer a convenient travel journey when booking, checking in, or connecting on flights between both carriers. Soon you will also be able to earn and redeem miles when flying on American and US Airways even though the AAdvantage and Dividend Miles frequent flyer programs remain separate for now. Rest assured, all miles, points, and segments earned on either airline are elite-qualifying. Elite members of each airline can soon enjoy select benefits of both the Dividend Miles and AAdvantage program on both airlines, including First and Business Class check-in, priority security, and priority boarding. Similarly, members of the Admirals Club® or the US Airways Club will soon be able to access both airport lounges worldwide. Because we're committed to making this integration as seamless as possible, building the new American will take some time. As the way we do business becomes aligned across both airlines, we'll keep you informed every step of the way. On behalf of the 100,000 employees of the new American Airlines, thank you for flying with us today and best wishes for a happy New Year.
