and Washington (Feb. 23) all at Surprise Recreation Campus. "Playing three teams from the Pac-12 will certainly be a challenge," according to Spartans coach Jake Boss Jr. - a challenge that fans won't want to miss! Not to be outdone, the Sanderson Ford Spring Training Classic will follow February 27-March 2, featuring more of the best of college baseball: Arizona State, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Gonzaga, Santa Clara, and Manhattan. Of course, the main action will happen February 26-March 29, when thousands of baseball fans will come out to watch the Texas Rangers and the Kansas City Royals hit the field for spring training. Besides cheering for the boys of summer, fans will enjoy mild winter temps, free and easy parking, and tons of vendors serving up popcorn, peanuts, cheesesteaks, and even barbecue. On game days, the Recreation Campus opens at 10 a.m., so fans have access to the back practice fields to get up close and personal, and seek that prized autograph. Before spring training ends, tennis heats up at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex, the largest tennis and racquetball facility in the Southwest with 25 courts - 19 lighted for night play. This year the Surprise CTCA/Sanderson Ford Lincoln Tennis Championships, March 21-22, will feature some of the biggest names in the sport. Think Pete Sampras, Jim Courier, Tracy Austin, and Anna Kournikova. The Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex plays host to 12 United States Tennis Assocation (USTA) national tennis invitationals beginning in April. Events will include the USTA Seniors, Super Seniors, NIRSA College Championships, and NCAA PacWest Athletic Conference Tennis Tournament, culminating in November with USTA's "55," "40 Plus," and Youth national qualifier championships. Youth Amateur Baseball Tournaments will gear up May through August with Surprise hosting three American Amateur Baseball Congress national events: the Connie Mack World Series qualifier, the Don Mattingly and Ken Griffey Jr. World Series, the American Legion Western Regional, and five Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken state tournaments.
