In Eureka Springs, live entertainment takes the stage almost every night. The Great Passion Play On a sprawling open-air stage in the Ozarks, The Great Passion Play tells the story of Jesus Christ’s last days on earth, including his death and resurrection. From the 175-person cast (plus Arabian horses, donkeys, birds, and camels) to the original score performed by the National Philharmonic Orchestra of London, it’s an impressive production that runs from May through October. Nearly eight million people have seen the show, which debuted in 1968, making it America’s No. 1 attended outdoor drama. Be sure to arrive early to check out the on-site Sacred Arts Museum, home to hundreds of religious pieces. There’s also a Bible Museum on the grounds, with more than 7,000 Bibles including an original 1611 King James version and a page of the Gutenberg Bible. Pine Mountain Theater Just a few miles away, Mike and Dale Bishop of the Pine Mountain Theater also stage a popular, family-friendly show.
