In 2011, just in time for Reagan’s 100th birthday, the museum reopened following an extensive renovation, which included a variety of technological improvements. Eighteen new galleries and dozens of interactive exhibits grant an immersive experience for guests of all ages. Thanks to green-screen technology, visitors can act alongside Reagan in a movie, use a teleprompter to deliver an inaugural address on the Capitol steps, and even design their own White House china. The revolutionary GuideCam experience combines an audio tour — much of which is hosted by the president and Mrs. Reagan — with a digital camera, so that pictures of the guest’s visit are waiting in his or her email inbox when her or she gets home. Rotating exhibits are also a big part of the appeal and are hosted in a dedicated gallery space. Through September, the library hosts Eighteen new galleries and dozens of interactive exhibits grant an immersive experience for guests of all ages. an installation on the life of Abraham Lincoln, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. Highlights include a selection of Lincoln’s early childhood writings and his beloved stovepipe hat, as well as the 13th Amendment, signed by both Congress and Lincoln himself. Of course, the Reagan Library is more than just a museum. It’s also the ﬁnal resting place of the 40th president, who was interred here on June 11, 2004, beneath a granite monument that faces the Paciﬁc Ocean.
