US Airways - June 2013 - (Page 175)

Today, the hotel remains a destination for both the rich and famous, and the luxury-loving. The 300-room Spanish historical building combines four-star accommodations, trendy nightlife, and fine dining. Regulars like Nicki Minaj, Kirsten Dunst, Michelle Williams, and Ryan Gosling have continued its star-studded legacy. Setting the Scene When the Thompson Hotel Group did major renovations at the Roosevelt in 2005, they fused Old Hollywood charm with modern polish. Rooms were outfitted with vintage celebrity photos and retro furniture, along with flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations, 24-hour room service, and Wi-Fi. The Roosevelt celebrates its starring role in Old Hollywood with the Marilyn Monroe Suite and Gable Lombard Penthouse. The 900-squarefoot suite was Monroe’s favorite room during her stays at the hotel. A wrap-around balcony overlooks the pool, allowing you to survey Monroe’s former playground just as she did. The Penthouse is a stunning 3,200-square-foot duplex with vaulted ceilings and 1,200 square feet of outdoor space. It’s rumored to be the place where Gable and Lombard began their love affair. Looking for the star treatment? Renovated in 2009, the historic Cabana rooms have that indoor/outdoor, sunny California feel. The Cabana Poolside looks out on the Tropicana Poolside Bar, but a retractable wall of windows and a semi-private patio allow you to separate yourself from the bustle outside — or join right in. Eat, Drink, and Play Like a VIP The legendary Tropicana Pool Bar has remained a hot spot since the roaring ’20s. Cabana seating and fireplaces set the mood for pool parties, intimate gatherings, and large-scale outdoor events. photos courtesy of hollywooD roosevelt hotel Teddy’s sits at the helm of the young Hollywood scene. Outside, the unmarked nightclub flies under the radar. Inside the swanky hideaway, socialites mingle at the island bar, bounce between cavernous private booths, relax in leather chairs, and weave between archways and columns. The Roosevelt gives credence to the classics, and that includes food. The restaurant, 25 Degrees, puts a gourmet spin on a good ol’ burger, shake, and fries. It was twice named one of the best burgers in the city by the Los Angeles Times. And open 24 hours, this burger spot is primed to keep up with your new Hollywood lifestyle. Whether you’re a star or just want the star treatment, the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is ready to make you a part of the legend.
