USC's performing arts schools blend the rigors of a traditional conservatory-style education with the beneﬁts of studying at a leading research university. from guest lectures by alumni luminaries such as Emmy Awardwinning actress America Ferrera, Oscar-winning ﬁlmmaker George Lucas, and Pritzker Prize-winning architect Thom Mayne. Bringing the Arts to Los Angeles and Beyond It's not just students who get to enjoy USC's programs and facilities. The USC Fisher Museum of art houses a collection of some 1,800 works of art dating from the 16th and 17th centuries to works of contemporary art - including a major sculpture garden by Jenny Holzer - and has a lively exhibition and special event schedule. Fisher is free and open to the public and only steps from the historic Exposition Park area, a visitor destination with attractions such as the California Science Center (home of the space shuttle Endeavour), the Natural History Museum, and the California African American Museum. Classical KUSC, a listener-supported, nonproﬁt broadcast service of the University of Southern California, is one of the nation's largest and most listened-to public classical radio stations. With its recent purchase of Classical KDFC in San Francisco and its Northern California translator stations, USC's classical outlets cover California from the Mexican border to Sonoma County. These stations reach listeners around the globe via online streaming. USC also brings the arts to the children of Los Angeles through its many enrichment programs funded through its Civic Engagement arm. In the USC Thornton JazzReach programs, USC music majors lead elementary school students as they compose, sing, and play in weekly ensembles; the After 'Cool Theatre Program teaches children the art of movement and performance; and Dance Included provides contemporary dance education.
