The school offers a full slate of degree programs tailored to students who aspire to work in the entertainment industry. Undergraduate degrees are available in animation, screenwriting, recording arts, and film and television production, while M.F.A.s are offered in screenwriting and production, and writing and producing for television; LMU was the first film school to offer a writing and producing for television degree. SFTV takes full advantage of its proximity to Hollywood, with an unrivaled internship program that places students at top film and television studios. The internship program has relationships with more than 400 entertainment companies, among them Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, DreamWorks, and Disney. This spring, more than 100 SFTV students scored internships with some of the hottest companies in Hollywood. Students also benefit from the state-of-art production facilities, which allow budding filmmakers hands-on experience with the same digital tools used by industry professionals. SFTV is one of the few film programs in the country to offer a completely tapeless model of production and post-production. The school also has a cutting-edge animation studio, making it one of the only programs in the world to provide instruction in virtual cinematography.
