is comprised of graduate students, faculty, and

Ensemble Studio Theatre/Los Angeles
Ensemble Studio Theatre/Los Angeles (EST/
LA) was originally founded as the West Coast
branch of the renowned New York based company. In 2001, EST/LA established itself as an
independent nonprofit. Since then, it has
emerged as one of Los Angeles' premier companies to develop and produce original work.
The company created a new venue in the AVT
complex in Atwater Village, which gave them
the ability in 2012 to program four plays in
repertory. In the past four years, under the
leadership of artistic director Gates McFadden
and managing director Michael Ruff, EST/LA
writers were recognized with two USA Pen
Awards for Drama and in 2012 received the
Ovation Award for best new play. Upcoming
EST/LA fare includes Watching OJ, by David
McMillan, a take on the OJ Simpson doublemurder trial.
