US Airways - May 2014 - (Page 6)

Perspective embark Thank You for Flying with US Saluting Those Who Have Served ★ On Memorial Day, celebrated on May 26 this year, many of us will take a moment to pay tribute to those who have given so much to protect the cornerstone of what our country stands for: freedom. It's our privilege at American Airlines to honor our heroes who serve - and have served - our country. Active-duty military and veterans' initiatives are causes close to our hearts, and in May, as we do all year long, we thank our military men and women for their service. Our partnerships with various national and local organizations demonstrate our passion for honoring those who dedicate their lives to serving our country. American Airlines has been the official airline sponsor of the USO since 2010, and through support of USO centers across the nation at our hub and local stations, our employees participate in various charitable activities designed to lift the spirits of troops and their families, including the meeting and greeting of military personnel, arranging fundraiser luncheons, preparing care packages, providing facility maintenance support, and much more. In addition, we are proud supporters of the Honor Flight Network, an organization that provides transport for our veterans to Washington, DC, to visit the memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. 6 MAY 2014 usairwaysmag.com And that's just the tip of the iceberg. American's other initiatives include programs such as Snowball Express, serving the children of our fallen military heroes, and Sky Ball, honoring our nation's military and its families. We also partner with the Veterans Medical Leadership Council in Phoenix, which ensures quality medical and mental health care for our veterans, and Wreaths Across America, which remembers the fallen and honors those who serve by placing fresh wreaths at the final resting places of our fallen soldiers. I invite you to learn more about our various initiatives supporting the military at aa.com/ joinus or by turning to page 54. If you'd like, you can join us by donating unused AAdvantage miles or cash to these important causes. To our nation's active-duty and reserve military members and veterans, many of whom work for American, thank you for your service from all of us at American Airlines. Thank you for flying with us today. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Doug Parker CEO American Airlines http://www.aa.com/joinus http://www.aa.com/joinus http://www.usairwaysmag.com
