The Fed Experience tackles complex economic topics by taking visitors on an exploration of their personal connection to the economy. And the exhibit begins with a showstopper — a bona ﬁde 401.75-troy-ounce gold bar. The space itself is equally stunning; vibrant images of markets in action ﬁll the walls. The adventure only takes about an hour, and it’s designed to appeal to middle and highschool students as well as adults, engaging them via audio, video, and interactive games. The lessons are powerful. For example, by buying and selling in the “Name Your Price Market” game, students learn about supply and demand and how market prices are determined. Don’t let its imposing exterior fool you.
