Cadets, aged kindergarten through eighth grade, join one of four companies that compete against each other for merits. “Teammates pull each other up,” Turner says. “I’ll never forget the time one of our international students said, ‘When I came to St. Catherine’s I wasn’t a good student, but I changed overnight. All the boys are going in one direction — the right direction. You want to go with them, so you make the change.’” The strong academics, military, and residential programs teach cadets the importance of community. St. Catherine’s serves local, national, and international students from Mexico, Korea, Australia, Thailand, and more, along with a number of legacy students whose fathers and grandfathers spent their elementary school years at the academy.
