This exhibit, developed by talk-show host and author Tavis Smiley, outlines pivotal moments of African-American courage, conviction, and creativity that have shaped today’s culture and society. Knight Theater The 1,200-seat Knight Theater combines intimate seating with first-class acoustics and sight lines. It’s an ideal place to enjoy great shows with family 62 and friends. Recent events have included Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Monty Python’s Spamalot, Steve Martin, Momix, Vince Gill, Next to Normal, Avenue Q, and North Carolina Dance Theatre. The theater was a featured location in the film The Hunger Games. Blumenthal Performing Arts manages the venue along with Charlotte’s other major performing-arts spaces. The upcoming season will include the international sensation Cirque Dreams: Holidaze, Dec. 18–23, and the awe-inspiring Traces, May 7–19, 2013.
