Bring more than a plastic bucket and shovel to this
beach party. The annual Cannon Beach Sandcastle
Contest, one of the oldest of its kind, celebrates half a
century of taking the classic summer pastime to the

Utah's artistic spectacle
With upwards of 80,000 visitors expected, the Utah Arts Festival is
easily the state's biggest cultural event of the summer. The four-day
extravaganza in downtown Salt Lake City offers more than 300 visual
and performing artists on five stages. A children's Art Yard with face
painting and crafts, and activities such as a comic book workshop, let
aspiring artists explore their budding creativity. uaf.org. - r . m .
