TR AILBLAZER She wears many hats T he nation's longest-running musical revue, Beach Blanket Babylon, is celebrating an anniversary. For 40 years, the romping San Francisco show has poked fun at everything from Bill Clinton's indiscretions to the Kardashian sisters' antics. Renée Lubin, the longest-tenured performer, plays Snow White's brassy spiritual guide, a role she's held for 28 years. beachblanketbabylon.com. Lubin plays a sassy fairy godmother. happen. Then the performers come out in these outrageous wigs and costumes, and they parody popular songs to tell the story of Snow White meeting famous people as she tries to find her prince. Q Famous people? A Madonna, Elvis, Sarah Palin. I spoof Michelle Obama, Whoopi Goldberg, and Oprah. It's all for fun. People actually feel honored when we mimic them. Q How does the show reflect the city? A We're open-minded. We take on everybody in pop culture. It allows us to unite, tell our story, and laugh at each other. Q Any embarrassing mishaps? A Tons! Once, I was supposed to fall out of a big lion's mouth, but a prop broke. I was stuck on my back in this puffy blue dress, and the audience just saw my legs dangling there. I went with it, kicking my feet until somebody backstage pushed me out. When I finally got onstage, the crowd was laughing so hard that I just looked at them and crooned, "Am I blue?"
