The Women Presidents’ Organization All the presidents, women even years ago the Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO) was founded by Dr Marsha Firestone as the first forum for entrepreneurial women business owners who have already met the challenge of guiding a business to at least $2 million. These female presidents and chief executives meet regularly in over 32 chapters in the United States and Canada to share support, expertise and experience in navigating the vagaries of business. Average annual revenues are $6 million, average number of years in business is 10, and the average number of employees is 49. In the aggregate our membership represents over $3 billion in revenues and 26,000 employees. Designed for participation in local chapters, WPOs are centered in cities across the country and in Canada and sponsored by national corporations committed to supporting women in business. A few years ago the WPO members began to request an opportunity to take their local group to the next level. Informed and inspired by their local peers, WPO members wanted to meet their counterparts from all parts of the country. As a response, we developed the annual WPO conference. In planning the meeting, we have established a program that not only brings together, but also harnesses the energy, momentum and talent of over 350 successful entrepreneurial women. The 2004 conference will be held in San Francisco, CA from February 26-28. S entrepreneurs participating in a forum that leverages resources to fulfill aspirations, achieve economic equality and promote well-being. The WPO provides continuing education and peer mentoring in business and leadership to women entrepreneurs and serves as a resource for developing solutions to the unique problems and challenges encountered by women entrepreneurs. The WPO is the ultimate destination for women in business. The WPO is a non-profit membership organization for a diverse group of women presidents who have guided their businesses to at least $2 million in gross annual sales (or $1 million for a servicebased business). Who Local chapters are co-ordinated by a professional facilitator who organizes meetings of the peer advisory group to focus on important business issues and cutting-edge business trends. What Women presidents encounter unique challenges in business and deserve and desire a creative and supportive resource that provides them with the knowledge and skills to excel as business leaders.
