Powder Coated Tough - Fall/Winter 2007 - (Page 4) 00_FC opt.1 11/19/07 9:57 PM Page 1 DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE er r Market Togeth Growing the Powde l The officia f o publication T h e P o w d e rs t i t u t e Coating In R 2007 FALL/WINTE C: GREGORY J. BOCCHI have recently “returned” from our latest, cutting edge trade event, the CyberCoating 2007 Global On-line Trade Show, which ran October 15-26 worldwide on the Internet. Just like any trade show, the value it brought to exhibitors and attendees will be determined in the weeks and months to come, with follow-up buyer-and-seller communications. For now, I can say that The Powder Coating Institute was successful in launching an unprecedented trade show experience never before witnessed in this format, with three-dimensional images, real-time discussions between suppliers and customers, and links from the virtual booths to web site links, graphics, and video presentations, accessible from computers anywhere in the world. I realize some CyberCoating 2007 visitors were confused by the registration procedures and instructions, and I understand their frustration. Undertaking any new venture is a learning experience, and the knowledge gained by this landmark event will make future events of this type much smoother and more rewarding for everyone involved. I want to thank everyone who attended CyberCoating 2007, the exhibitors, and everyone involved in creating and assembling the on-demand conference sessions, especially the PCI Board of Directors for the time and effort they devoted to this new venture. As I leave cyberspace, I’m proud to report that our next major trade event is 4 Powder Coated Tough I Coating 2008, to be held September 2325, 2008, at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. PCI and Goyer Management are again teaming up to deliver a valuable conference and trade show serving the entire coatings industry, with exhibitors displaying the latest in coatings, application equipment, raw materials, and related products and services to coatings end users, and a comprehensive technical conference in conjunction with the show. More information is posted on www.thecoatingshow.com and will appear in future issues of Powder Coated Tough. As in the past, PCI members receive significant discounts on exhibit space costs. This brings me to my next announcement. As election year approaches, I will not be throwing my hat into the ring. I will continue my ongoing campaign to encourage suppliers of powder coating materials, equipment, and related products to join PCI. In addition to the exhibit booth savings and discounts on PCI publications, events, and advertisements in this magazine, PCI membership provides great exposure for companies on the PCI web site, and an opportunity to meet with other members to conduct business and work together to help expand the powder coating market. To learn more about membership, visit www.powdercoating.org/how_to/ company.htm, or call PCI at 800-988COAT. I wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2008.
