Powder Coated Tough - Spring 2008 - (Page 17) long-term show strategy. Therefore we contacted CCAI to discuss this and they seemed enthusiastic about the idea. We created a working group, which consists of seven members of the PCI board and seven members of the CCAI board. The working group’s responsibility is to design and create a show strategy through 2013. We have agreed that the seven members from each association doesn’t have to be a fixed set of people, meaning it can vary meeting to meeting and workgroup to workgroup. We did this for variety and so that each association would have flexibility in their selection of participants. Trostle: The alliance will consist of seven members from each of the organizations, who will function in a work group and discuss the trade show and potential other events of the future. The idea is that the agreement between the two organizations will be a living agreement, if you will. We don’t know two years from now what our direction will look like. We tried to come up with an agreement giving the two organizations flexibility. This will allow for creativity going forward, and I think that’s important. If you go back four or five years in the past, and asked what it is going to look like in the future, I don’t think anyone would have been correct in their assessments, so I think that the dynamics of the agreement are that we will work continuously to promote new ways of fulfilling everybody’s need in this industry. I think this is the important piece of it. Additionally the PCI and CCAI have a somewhat different perspective on what the industry is all about. They are not in conflict but they are in coordination, and they complement one another. PCI has a focus on commercial growth on a certain type of technology and CCAI focuses on education. The primary focus of CCAI is to educate and provide opportunities for education to the industry. If you take those two different perspectives, if you will, and put them together and you really have the best for the industry. What are the long term show strategies for the industry?
