Powder Coated Tough - Spring 2008 - (Page 32)
Breaking News regional event, possibly in Nashville, the Midwest or south/ southeast. Mark your calendars now! Trostle: The idea is to set a time frame of five years to work together. I think everybody realizes that it takes time to realize the benefits of this agreement —it allows us to fine-tune things short term but it also allows us to look farther down the road at different things. I think everybody agrees that some type of a show in some fashion similar to what we’ve been doing in the past is wanted, but the frequency of that still is in question. I think what we’re really looking at is having something like traditional shows of the past augmented with smaller regional shows—maybe more than one show per year during the odd years or maybe two or as many as three small regional shows. I think the important thing is that the agreement and the working group created by the agreement has the flexibility of looking at that, working with the members of both organizations to find something that really will be the best for everybody involved. Our industry has gone through a lot in the last five to eight years. We as a group are too small of an industry not to work together closely, finding ways of bettering not just the industry but the individual members of the industry, the people who really rely on the finishing industry as their future. I think this is critical to all of our futures. Any final thoughts on the subject? Sudges: I agree with what both Steve and Jerry have stated based on where the finishing industry is at this point in time. We need to go forward together as associations to plan and execute the best show or event possible to serve both our associations’ membership. With the make-up of this working group we take the best dynamics of both associations and mold it into one show or multiple events. By doing so, the attendees and exhibitors are getting the most value for their investment. Steve Houston can be reached at Stephen.E.Houston@usa.dupont.com.
