Powder Coated Tough - Spring 2008 - (Page 4) DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE A Fond Farewell GREGORY J. BOCCHI t is with mixed feelings that I have tendered my resignation as executive director of The Powder Coating Institute. It was a very difficult decision, as PCI has been a major part of my life for the past 24 years. In the end, I felt it was best to take on a significant new opportunity. I will not be going far away, at least as far as technology is concerned. I have accepted the position of president of The Vinyl Institute in Arlington, Va., an organization that represents manufacturers of vinyl resin and vinyl systems additives. I will commence work at The Vinyl Institute on May 1, 2008. I will do everything possible to assist PCI in this transition and see that all of PCI’s important business is taken care of prior to my final contact with this great organization. Until then, I have a lot to do. Besides dealing with the transition and working with the Executive Committee to find my replacement, I am finalizing details for the 2008 PCI Annual Meeting, slated for June 1-4, when PCI returns to the popular Marriott Marco Island Resort, at Marco Island, Fla. The PCI Annual Meeting is a diverse blend of business sessions, a full slate of committee meetings and guest speakers who will talk about the industry and economic issues pertinent to the industry, and unique networking opportunities with other PCI members in recreational and social events. Only I PCI company members can take part in this special event, and more information has already been mailed to PCI company member representatives. PCI promises—no, guarantees—an escape from the record snowfalls and low temperatures many of you have endured this year, with meetings and activities designed to help members improve their businesses. PCI member contacts who want additional information should contact the PCI Office. “I will always cherish the many friendships and wonderful memories from my 24 years at PCI.” PCI is also working with Goyer Management on COATING 2008, scheduled for September 22-25 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. This technical conference and trade show is the premier event for users of industrial coating processes. Exhibitors will display the latest in coatings, application equipment, raw materials, and related products and services to coatings end users, and there will be a comprehensive technical conference in conjunction with the show. This is the place to learn about leading edge technology to improve your finishing operations. Co-sponsoring organizations to date are the Chemical Coaters Association International (CCAI), The Electrocoat Association, the Infrared Equipment Div. of Industrial Heating Equipment Association (IRED), and The Porcelain Enamel Institute. More information is available at www.thecoatingshow.com. PCI members receive significant discounts on exhibit space costs. I encourage suppliers of powder coating materials, equipment and related products to join PCI. Besides the exhibit booth savings and discounts on PCI publications, events and advertisements in this magazine, PCI membership provides great exposure for its members on the PCI web site. For more about membership, visit www.powdercoating.org or call PCI at 800-988-COAT. I fully recognize the debt of gratitude I owe the PCI Board of Directors, membership, my dedicated staff and key outside vendors for their contributions to PCI’s success during my tenure. I am filled with as much sadness over leaving PCI as I am excitement over what this new and challenging position holds for me. I have had a great run here at PCI, but it is now time for me to move on. I will always cherish the many friendships and wonderful memories from my 24 years at PCI. And I will always be extremely proud of what we have accomplished together with this organization—the best association in the industrial coatings field. May it always remain that way.
