July 14 The Miser Avenue Q In this farce by Moliere performed by the Upstate Shakespeare Festival, Harpagon is an old miser who believes all riches should be romanced. July 17-20 The Bear takes one of Chekhov’s favorite short comedies and drops it in the 1950s where we meet Popova – a woman in love with her husband (now that he’s dead), but even more so, in love with the role of the widow. Enter Smirnoff, the rougharound-the-edges bill collector, here to bully his way into the pieces of her husband’s fortune. A hysterically melodramatic tête-à-tête, it’s an overblown bodice-ripper, made all the more fun by a character who didn’t know he was in one. 8 p.m. The Warehouse Theatre. 864-235-6948. July 21-Aug. 2 Avenue Q is Broadway’s smashhit 2004 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book.
