Their stories are detailed in this section to share what they have learned along the way. While each of these case studies is different, each of the four communities worked with the Community Action Team (CAT) to attract private investment to create a diverse set of high-impact redevelopment projects. Each has accepted the reality of changing economic conditions, found new uses for formerly industrial land and fashioned new kinds of tourist, job or technology centers. They have identified key assets and established a publicprivate partnership to leverage existing assets and create new ones. In the face of natural disasters, shifts in the economy, and unforeseen social and political developments, these four Pennsylvania cities and boroughs can inform and inspire other communities with their resilience, self-confidence, creativity and ability to carve out a new destiny.
