PFFC - January 2009 - (Page 4) FIRST GLANCE mvacuuized metallke fla gy technolo Well-Balanced with Oak Undertones NAPCO, Sparta, NC, created a very special wine glass gift box for Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. It was designed to look like a wooden wine crate, using a chipboard base made from fully recycled materials, with paper wraps and liners printed with wood texture art and brand-stylized graphics. The structure features a sliding top panel for easy opening and packing, with a special inside platform to hold glasses securely in place. The box was finished with a matte coating to create the visual look and feel of real wood. Glasses were packed with kraft paper to further authenticate the wood box look. Less Heavy Metal National Label Co., Lafayette Hill, PA, has introduced meta-LUX, a decorative technique for p-s labels that achieves high-impact, reflective metallic effects with inks containing vacuum-metallized flake technology. Results are said to be comparable to foil stamping or foil transfer in a process that generates virtually no waste, which will be of interest to brand owners seeking to maintain shelf impact while reducing their environmental footprint. According to Oliver Crowhurst, decorative technologies manager, “A key advantage to meta-LUX is that we can achieve highly reflective silver and gold effects on single-ply labels without the need to reverse-print on an additional layer of film. Green Guarantee Plastics recycler CSIPLASTICS, Holden, MA, has designed a reusable bag that is guaranteed 100% fully recyclable. The Better Bag is made with recycled materials and is sturdy, moisture- and stain-resistant, and washable. Owner Steve Silver says, “Plastic recycling is my business, and my goal in developing The Better Bag is to provide a truly green product for environmentally minded consumers. We know The Better Bag is recyclable. My company will recycle it—guaranteed!” Did you produce a cool converted product?
