PFFC - March 2009 - (Page 28) NEWS CLIPS Sheeter Increases Efficiency, Productivity RICHWOOD, KY | Roosevelt Paper Co. installs its second twin synchronous knife folio sheeter Model KMC 165 from Kmec USA’s Dreamcut range. The first machine was installed at Roosevelt’s Mt. Laurel, NJ, facility in February 2007; the second sheeter is destined for the Richwood, KY, plant (a third plant is located in Chicago, IL). Both machines are 65 in. wide, complete with six shaftless floor pickup unwinds with 72-in. maximum unwind capacity and a sheet length cut-off range of 16–63 in. “Based on the success of the first machine we had no hesitation in ordering a second machine,” said operations manager Bill Baltrusaitis. “We spent some considerable time and resources a couple of years ago to find a sheeter that would give us the flexibility, productivity, and, of course, accuracy that we required in order to increase our efficiency. “…After visiting their [Kmec] facility in Spain and running trials, we determined that this was the sheeter for us, and of equal importance, this was obviously a company committed to the support of their customers,” says Baltrusaitis. “The experience with Kmec exceeded our expectations. Over the past two years Kontrelmec s.l. [Kmec] has consistently shown us their commitment to the North American market through Kmec USA, and we are confident of a continued and mutually beneficial relationship with them.” uRoosevelt Paper Co. | www.rooseveltpaper.com PFFC-ASAP 357 uKmec USA Inc. | www.kmecusa.com PFFC-ASAP 358 AT O W RK AT O W RK PVC Keeps Tanks Fit ADA, OK | A PVC liner system kept deteriorating water tanks in Ada from leaking. Fab-Seal Industries fabricated and installed the liner using an FDA-compliant material from RTP’s Sheet & Film Div. The material, which is radio frequency (RF) sealable during on-site installation, is certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for Drinking Water Systems. Ken Kane, plant manager for Fab-Seal, says, “The fact that the liner system was RF sealable was very important. RF sealing basically melts the two surfaces lapped together into one piece using radio waves to generate the heat required to melt the PVC.” Kane adds, “The consistency in the width of the material and its flexibility are very important. With the RTP material, the liner easily conformed to the floor and sidewall slope, allowing a better fit.” uRTP Co. | www.rtpcolor.com PFFC-ASAP 359 PFFC-ASAP 122 28 | MARCH 2009 WWW.PFFC-ONLINE.COM http://www.parkinsontechnologies.com http://www.rooseveltpaper.com http://www.kmecusa.com http://www.rtpcolor.com http://WWW.PFFC-ONLINE.COM
