Training Trainers in Flexo CHARLOTTE, NC | The Harper National Flexographic Center, located on the Harper Campus of Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), recently hosted a FlexSys Print Simulator “train the trainer” session for area flexography education programs that have FlexSys Simulator systems in-house. The Simulator works as a virtual printing press, replicating press conditions and problems created by an instructor for a student “press operator” to correct. Dr. John Anderson of the Foundation for the Flexographic Technical Assn. conducted the training. Says Stephen Gerhardt, Harper National Flexographic Center’s coordinator at CPCC, “John’s training will enable us to expand our use of the press simulator in the lab, so we can add even more value to our existing curricula for conventional students, as well as our industry training programs.” AT W O RK More Pouches, More Sizes CINCINNATI, OH | A new Mamata pouching machine is at work in the Cary, IL, facility of Ampac Flexibles. The Vega 610 is giving Ampac the ability to increase the range of pouches from simple three-side seal flat in limited sizes to unlimited sizes without requiring new tooling.
