Within DVP, the technical study of GMD draws great
attention from management and has gained tremendous
support. Led by Dr. Bernabeu (who now works with PJM),
Mark McVey, and Mike Lamb, the GMD research team carries out several important projects, including maximum
geoelectric scenario estimation, GIC distribution mapping,

transformer and capacitor-bank impacts, and harmonics
studies. DVP has relied on technical support from its manufacturers, industry peers, and academia.
