The overall closed-loop control scheme for the ac/dc
hybrid generation system is shown in Figure 5. The ac
load voltage is solely controlled by the HP generator controller. The dc bus voltage is regulated by a master-slave
control strategy, which involves both the HP and LP generator controllers. The dc power output command P dc) 1
from the HP generator controller (master controller) is
designed as a control input commanded by the engine
control unit to prevent engine instability caused by the
high off-take of power extraction on the HP spool. An

additional control freedom is provided to the engine control unit to balance the power extraction from the HP and
LP spools. The LP generator controller (slave controller)
fulfills the rest of the dc power demand from the main dc
bus. The control scheme for the HP shaft generation subsystem is shown in Figure 6. In the HP spool generation
subsystem, ac and dc power is generated from two sides
of the HP generator winding.
The current control loop of the control scheme is based
on field orientation control (FOC) strategy. For a given ac load
