electrification with grid decarbonization can lower energy system
emissions significantly. For co2,
we estimate nearly 3.2 billion metric tons fewer emissions in 2050
(66% lower than the reference scenario) when both these measures
are achieved to the degree envisioned. Furthermore, implementing high end-use energy efficiency
would help avoid an additional
