Bayer MaterialScience Shares Ideas with Industrial Designers In October 2007, Bayer MaterialScience LLC (BMS), Pittsburgh, Pa., showcased unique, abstract applications of its materials in lighting, layering, and eco to thousands of industrial designers at the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design/International Designers Society of America World Design Congress in San Francisco, Calif. The interactive BMS booth, created to simulate the look of a modern gallery, featured exclusive ‘objects of desire’: glass vases frosted with a one-component waterborne coating, intricate metal pieces splashed with color through AURA® infusion technology, Texin® thermoplastic polyurethane adorned with conductive ink, color-infused rods cast from Baytec® polyurethane, and electroluminescent film with inmold decoration. The booth also featured Bayer materials in its construction, including Makrolon® polycarbonate for the shelving, signage, and windows, and Bayer’s polyurethane foam for the booth seating. The awards were presented to the winners at IMLCON07 and the winning entries displayed at the conference and at PackExpo Las Vegas.
